Income by State

The median is the annual income at the middle of the household distribution. It stays fixed at the official survey estimate.

The running number uses Census’s aggregate household income (B19025), divided by the actual calendar days in 2024 ACS 1-year and 86,400 seconds per day, then multiplied by elapsed time in your selected UTC range. This holds the historical pace constant; it is not a measurement of today’s deposits or an inflation-adjusted forecast.

Households include families and people living alone. Income includes earnings, interest, pensions and other cash income before taxes. We do not multiply the median by population. U.S. totals exclude Puerto Rico; its figures are shown separately.

These are 2024 ACS 1-year survey estimates, in reporting-year dollars. State pages include 90% margins of error. The other island territories are outside ACS coverage; we do not invent comparable income flows for them.
