How buyback illustrations work
Open-ended authorizations are illustrated evenly over 12 calendar months from their disclosed effective date or remaining-capacity observation. A published end date takes precedence. Dollar authorizations are divided by a dated closing-price snapshot, held fixed for the illustration. Share authorizations are used directly. This is an illustration of capacity, not a forecast, commitment or count of executed purchases. Windows include only their overlap with the program illustration. Price snapshots do not update live. Different classes or companies cannot be summed into an index share count. Only verified program snapshots appear; missing programs do not mean zero buybacks.
A $1 billion authorization at $200 per share represents 5 million illustrative shares. We divide that share count by the seconds in the modeled period, then multiply by elapsed time. Revenue and dividends remain dollar flows using their own reported periods. The S&P 500 aggregate remains a cash measure.

Company authorization disclosure ↗How these numbers work
Revenue is sales and other reported revenue. Net income is profit or loss after expenses. Dividends are reported cash payments. Company buyback counters illustrate disclosed authorizations in shares; actual repurchases remain available in the source filings. These measures must not be added to earnings.
We divide each flow by the exact number of days in its reported period, then apply that daily pace to elapsed UTC time. These estimates assume a constant pace. Actual sales, profits and payments vary and often arrive in batches. Negative profit remains a loss.
Company flows use their latest integrated annual period; SpaceX uses its available six-month period. Fiscal calendars differ. Interest expense uses the same historical pace method. It can include borrowing beyond the long-term debt shown, depending on the named filing concept. Interest is not automatically capitalized into principal; payments and refinancing are not modeled. Debt, cash and assets remain at their reported balances. A debt tile may cover only the named debt component, not all borrowing.
The full-index total comes directly from S&P Dow Jones Indices’ aggregate table for its historical index membership. It is independent of our 51 company pages. QQQ is not added, and multiple share classes are not added again. The published index baseline is preliminary and may be revised.
Each company card uses its latest published SEC financial snapshot. Reporting periods can differ; inspect the filing period before comparing. Estimates revert to their reported baselines January 1, 2027 unless refreshed. “Reported period” shows the filing amount. An all-time earnings total is not available.
